It feels a little strange: I am both proud of and slightly shy about the video we released in the framework of the VRE4EIC project.

It was funny: I had just landed at Schiphol airport and rushed to TU Delft University. I suddenly found myself at the New Media Center, in front of a camera, inside a soundproof studio with a bright green background, with a few people watching, or perhaps staring, from behind the soundproof glass. Then I had to start speaking with my southern European English accent. That was the embarrassing part.

I think I understood how fish feel in a fish bowl.

The studio team, however, were excellent and patient, and they explained clearly how everything would work. We then relied on the substantial preparation already done for the video lecture.

The topic of the videos is How Research Infrastructures can take advantage of interoperable VRE building blocks.

In the first part, I explain what research infrastructures are, what distributed research infrastructures can provide to users, and how they are organized from governance and technical perspectives. Real examples are discussed through the EPOS use case.

In the second part, the focus is on how interoperable building blocks developed within VRE4EIC can be used to enhance the functionalities of research infrastructures. The EPOS use case is again discussed and analyzed as an example.
